We are a married couple in our early 30's who got tired of the rat race of corporate America and set out to find or possibly create something more inspiring to us. We left our careers in May 2018 and set off for South America where we are currently traveling and volunteering as we try to learn Spanish and find ways to give back to communities and the planet. This podcast will document our travels as well as feature interviews from other amazing travelers and organizations that are doing things a little different. Episode 8 is all about our time living in the Bolivian jungle. We spent 9 weeks, from the end of August to the end of October 2018, volunteering with a non-governmental organization called Etta Projects. We discuss the projects we worked on, people we met, and some fun adventures along the way. Did we mention that the insects are huge in the jungle and we literally saw a spider crossing the road?! For this interview we sit down with Leandra in the jungle near Buena Vista, Bolivia (~2 hours from Santa Cruz). We were all volunteering with Etta Projects, a non-profit organization that works to improve the health, nutrition, water, sanitation, and education of the Bolivian people. Leandra is a nurse and discusses her research on Chagas disease in Bolivia as well her experience with seasonal work in the states before going to nursing school.

This week we share our experience spending one month in Sucre, Bolivia at Fenix Spanish school. We talk about some of our favorite attractions in Sucre and our adventures doing a 4-day tour of the Bolivian Salt Flats with Tupiza Tours. This all took place in August 2018. Our first interview! Today we sit down in a cafe in Sucre, Bolivia with Ruth. She is traveling Central and South America with her husband, Mark, and two kids, ages 8 and 10. They also are traveling with the goal of not using any plastic!
